L'entrecote Saint-Jean

I went there on a date. Our server was very nice and did not forget about us at any time during our stay at the restaurant. He came by often and even offered advice about the menu to my date. I had the Special Entre-côte, a steak with fries. I like my steaks rare, so I asked to get it done rare.. Oh boy did they deliver! Honestly one of the best steaks I had in my life. Would definitely recommend to a couple for an excellent diner.

Nice little restaurant found in one of The Pedestrian streets in Old City Quebec. Slightly pricey although delicious food. This restaurant is basically steak and fries. It is safe to say that they do have other options on the menu but it is known for their steak and fries. Take a chance go and try it out.

Pleasant ambiance plus good food. Recommended for Quebec City center for a bottle of local white wine and steak with appetizer and dessert.

We ordered entrecote and it was very delicious, Service was fast although we arrived at peak time, staff very friendly, and prices are very affordable.Would highly recommend it!

I think 3.5 would be my real rating Good - Steak was Cooked perfect and was of high qualityFries were crispy and good portionEven offered some bread and butter before dinnerPrice was very reasonable considering it’s touristy area and cheaper than what many chain restaurants would offer BadIt was all very, very bland. The special sauce was bland , I think it’s a cream , curry and some onion but you can not taste a lotMake sure you got a salt and pepper near by and I am not one to normally use that on my food .

Plenty of typical Christmas decorations available. Some unique decorating ideas. It is great you can plan ahead for special stockings or other Christmas decorations. Well stocked

Amazing " confit de canard", ...and I love the liver mousse!

Our favorite place in Quebec, we went there twice and enjoy their entrecôte. Its sauce is just perfect! Don't change anything guys!

Lively ambience, tasty steak and friendly staff.

The soup and dessert was good... The steak was dry and hard...they serve too much french fries if that's your thing.... Overall, will not recommend....

Love this place. Excellent food and service

Great service at a great location. Price is normal around the area (expect to pay around 20-30 CAD not including tip) Food was good but don't expect to be blown away. However, I would not recommend their steaks; they are pretty bland.

The food was okay, good flavor, the service was good too. Recomendable to get a bite a drink and enjoy Quebec in one of the main streets.

All the food we ordered was good.Allergy caution: the cook their french fries in peanut oil. They accommodated someone with a peanut allergy and gave options to all the dishes that would usually come with fries.Cool liquor cabinets on the way to the washroom.

Such a great place for entrecote! The meat just melt in your mouth! Absolutely delicious. I have to come here everytime I visit Quebec City. I highly recommend it.

Quaint resto, had a good express lunch. Our seat offered a nice view of the street. The salmon was very tasty! My husband liked his medium rare steak.

Very good value and steak frites was very good (except for the mustard sauce), but the place was too noisy for any kind of peaceful dinner. Service was very good.

We ate lunch there today, & both ordered different meals. They were both daily specials & were exceptional. I don't understand the reviewers that complained about prices. The specials were very good & reasonably priced. Our service was very friendly & attentive.

Wonderful place to eat in Old Quebec! The food was excellent and the service very friendly and efficient! You can sit outside for a great street experience. Will definitively be back!

We were craving Paris-style steak frite. This filled the bill. Perfectly cooked entrecote, crispy fries, nice salad, and profiteroles for dessert. It all needed salt, but there was a salt shaker on the table. Service was good, wine was nice, price was reasonable. This place is a Quebec institution.

A very lovely and upper class feel like restaurant but not so high end prices. The duck legs were definitely my favourite, they were juicy and filled with flavour. Our waiter was lovely enough to tell me how they cooked them which made me feel like I was getting taken care of well. Lovely fries and interesting salad but the steak was not the best even though the waiter told us it was the locals’ favourite. Overall a lovely restaurant!

We went during late lunch time. Potato soup, Confit de Canard, and creme bulee all tasted great. Highly recommended. Great value for the price. The Service is exceptional too. The staff speaks English well and both EN and FR menu were presented. Do not miss when visiting quebec

It was ok, not amazing. Soup and sugar pie were tasty. Steak and salad were not my favorite.

Outstanding food and service. Had their specialty meal: zucchini soup, butterhead lettuce salad, steak (with wonderful sauce) and fries, ending with chocolate profiteroles. Exquisite meal.

Très deliceux! The lunch special includes soup or salad, 5oz (or larger) Steak au fFrites, with a delectable sauce, followed by Profiteroles and coffee. It is always a favorite of mine, when in Vieux Québec!

The steak I ordered was fantastic. The lunch menu features salad, steak, french fries, desert, and coffee for a very reasonable price. I would definitely visit again.

For the food I will give them 5 stars, we ordered chicken liver, duck leg and ribs（taste good)the reason I give them 1 stars because their waitress (old women) when we ask for bill, she give us two bills, one before tips another one after tips, I figured out she think we won’t give her tips that’s the reason when she give us the ketchup she just throw it in the table and the receipt, I feel disrespected, you can’t treat every Asian like the same just because there may some of them didn’t tips you, we were planning to give you 20% but the bill that you give to us only take 15%, thank you for saving my money!

Great meal! Every year we come here for my wife's birthday and they always serve us good dishes.

Here for a 2nd night and the duck confit is just amazing. Staff were friendly and they knew we were here the night before. Recommended to try this place once when you are in Quebec city old town.

Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food

Most highly recommended is the chocolate mousse! Absolutely divine! Also enjoyed the rest of our meal: mushroom soup, the Gourmet Platter with terrine, chicken liver mousse and salmon rillettes, and a warm duck salad. Friendly service as well, even on a busy night.

Waiter thought it would be funny to serve us the cheapest Cabarnet on the menu when we ordered the most expensive glass of Pinot Noir on the menu. Then proceeded to giggle to himself behind the bar and bad mouth us in French. Gave us the check before we finished the wine without asking for more. Place was empty during lunch on New Year's. Makes sense.

Got seated quickly and decent service. Waitress was not attentive after course was served. Got her attention for ketchup towards end of meal. The sauce they brag about on their website and menu is watery just like the other reviews. Photo on site and menu shows a thicker sauce. OK steak, should be better for a steakhouse. No wow factor here.

Food was average, I expected more from a restaurant that claims it's their specialty. Steak was cooked medium rare like I asked but it was not seasoned well and a little chewy. The sauce was okay, it made the steak a little better. I don't even want to mention a huge stack of fries...As for the service, our waitress, Roxanne, was extremely unprofessional and rude. There is definitely a difference in service if you do not live in Quebec, but she still expected bigger tip and complained about the 10% I gave her. I saw other waiters being really helpful to other people and I wouldn't have a problem giving them a bigger tip, but my waitress looked annoyed from the beginning.

Great food and service!

The price is not on par with the quality of the food provided. Bread and soup was ordinary, steak was surprisingly bland mixed with overly-watery sauce that is served with a mountain of displeasing fries, and dessert was way too sweet. To top that off, the service was terrible (putting into consideration that it was 10pm). The guy was not caring, kept forgetting our requests, had to be reminded that there was a dessert option on our menu and he didn’t give it to us, and gave us a cup of hot water with an unopened tea bag when we asked for our tea for takeaway. Such a disappointment.

Fantastic dinner with a few friends tonight. Server was well spoken and helped with suggestions. Also very understanding of our lack of fluency in French Would give 6 stars but no moose.

Steak, frites and profiteroles exactly what you want and expect. The steak was cooked perfectly! The decor was beautiful and enjoyable.

Amazing sauce, great service & excellent value!

Go early, this restaurant fills up. Our waiter was the best! The portions are large, we had to get boxes. The food is excellent. Although it's a small menu, there is enough variety and obviously they do those dishes very well. We have a food allergy as well; the waiter was knowledgable and they had no problem making a substitute for us because of the allergy. Prices comparable for the city.

I really like Quebec city and most of it’s Restaurants. The food quality and portion was really good i also like the french vibe of the restaurant. To me the most significant part was the servers and how friendly they were. I liked my experience there and hope to come back again😀. Thanks a lot

Very disappointing. 3 out of 4 of us had tough, chewy steaks (they were medium rare as requested). The fries were good though. Our chocolate lava puddings were cold and hard because they had forgotten to heat them up (the waitress, who was very nice, removed them from the bill). If a restaurant is going to specialise in a particular dish then it had better be good, but it wasn't.

Delicious steak. The sauce is absolutely delicious and the profiteroles to die for. I would recommend and will definitely go back on my next trip to Quebec City.
